How do I obtain prescription refill?
Please call your pharmacy where your original prescription was filled to request a refill of your medication. Your pharmacist will call AM Diabetes & Endocrinology Center to request any pertinent information. Allow us up to 2 business days to have the physician authorize your refill request.
How do I transfer my prescription to a different pharmacy?
If you need to transfer your medication to a different pharmacy, please inform your pharmacy of the change request. If you are having problems obtaining medicaton, please call into the preferred pharmacy, so that they can help you in getting medication.
How do I obtain mail order prescriptions?
If you are using a mail order pharmacy, let us know at the time of your appointment so that your prescription can be sent to the mail order pharmacy. Please call the mail order company to assure that the medication is on the way. If you are going to be out of medication before your mail order prescription arrives, please call the clinic at 901-384-0065. We can either call a smaller prescription to a local pharmacy or give you samples if they are available.
In case of thyroid hormone prescription, please specify if you are on the brand name medicine.
Prescriptions are not refilled after hours or on weekends.
Will my insurance company cover diabetes education?
Due to our status of being ADA Certified to provide diabetes education, the cost for our education programs is covered by most insurance plans. Some insurance plans require copayment. Please contact your insurance company to verify if this is a covered benefit under your plan. Since coverage varies, for your convenience we have developed a form additional information and a list of questions to ask your insurance company regarding coverage for diabetes education.
Do I have to fast if I am having a lipid test?
It is preferred to fast for atleast eight hours. This means you may drink water and take any current medications, but you should not eat or drink anything else during this period of time.
Do I have to fast if I am having a 2 hour blood glucose test?
Yes, you must fast for atleast 8 hours. This means you may drink water and take any current medications, but you should not eat or dink anything else during this period of time. You also must be fasting when your insulin levels are being checked.
Do I have to fast if I am having an A1C test?
No, you do not have to fast when you are having an A1C test. This test shows your "average" blood sugar level over a 2-3 month period.
What do I need to do if I am having an AM Cortisol Test?
You should fast for at least eight hours. This means you may drink water and take any current medications, but you should not eat or drink anything else during this period of time. Your lab appointment should be scheduled before 9:00 am.
Do I have to personally drop off my urine jug when I have a 24 hour Creatinine Clearance test?
Patients who have a 24 hour Creatinine Clearance test done must make an appointment and bring their urine jug into the clinic. Blood will need to be drawn when you come in.
